Saturday’s (Dec. 10) free event by the Dover Street Trio showcases musicians with very interesting backgrounds.

ST. PETERSBURG — The Friends of Main Library will present the Dover Street Trio in a program of chamber music and holiday songs at the St. Petersburg Main Library, 3745 Ninth Ave. N, on Saturday, (Dec. 10) at 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Carol Skey, pianist in the trio, is also a cellist in the Tampa Bay Symphony. She is from Connecticut and has taught vocal and instrumental music from elementary school through the university level. She coaches and accompanies students and professionals.

Julie Tollen, violinist, began playing at the age of five and has played in orchestras in Pennsylvania, Colorado and Japan. She runs an Aikido martial arts studio.

Ruth Kern, cellist, was an editor at the New York Daily News. During her 30-year career as a journalist, she also played in the Hoboken Chamber Orchestra and the Jerusalem Chamber Orchestra. The group expanded to five players and became the Dover Street Quintet when they performed at the Dali Museum last year.
