Voter Turnout High in Hillsborough
The early voting turnout has already exceeded the early voter turnout in the 2012 presidential election.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – With two more days of early voting ahead, Hillsborough County has already had more voters vote before Election Day than in the last presidential election.
During the 2012 General Election, 338,477 voters voted before election day. As of Friday (Nov. 4), the unofficial turnout was 364,345. Of those, 170,821 voters had cast mail-in ballots and 193,524 had gone to early voting sites.
Early voting continues in Hillsborough County from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. today (Nov. 5) and Sunday (Nov. 6).
“We’re expecting a busy weekend but there’s still plenty of time left to vote before election day,” Hillsborough Supervisor of Elections Craig Latimer said. “I advise voters to go to VoteHillsborough.org and click on early voting. You can check the wait times at each site and head for the one that’s most convenient for you.”
During early voting, voters can choose any early voting location in their home county and their ballot will be printed for them so they can vote. On election day, however, voters can only vote in the polling place assigned to their precinct. Hillsborough County voters should go to VoteHillsborough.org or look at their voter information card issued this year to double check the location of their polling place. Election day (Nov. 8) is the last day to vote.
Voters who still have a vote-by-mail ballot should drop it off at any of the four Supervisor of Elections offices during office hours, or 16 early voting sites during early voting hours. All mail ballots must be in the office (not postmarked) by 7 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 8). Voters can track their vote-by-mail ballot to see when the Supervisor of Elections office receives the voted ballot.
