Time for Spring Cleaning in Hillsborough

Volunteers will help clean up 85 sites in Hillsborough County during next Saturday’s (March 5) Great American Cleanup.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Join Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful sweeping up trash, litter and debris at 85 local sites throughout Hillsborough for the Great American Cleanup.

For more than 20 years, this locally activated community improvement program has brought the power of volunteers and sponsors together to inspire change and build sustainable, vibrant communities. This year’s theme is “Clean Your Block Party.” It serves as a call to action to create more sustainable communities by focusing volunteer efforts on activities that impact individuals in need, aesthetic community improvements and environmental impact.

Projects may include:

  •   Community gardens (butterfly, sensory, vegetable)
  •    Habitat restoration
  •    Invasive plant removal
  •    Litter Free Events
  •    Litter cleanups (waterways, roadways, shorelines, parks and underwater dives)
  •    Landscape maintenance and planting (weeding, trimming, etc.)
  •    Playground/park equipment restoration (painting, mulching, etc.)
  •    Storm drain marking
  •    Tree plantings

The event is 9 a.m. to noon Saturday (March 5).
