Tampa Turns Empty Space to Good Use
The King’s Forest Recreation Center has been revitalized and is being used for a summer program for kids.
TAMPA – The Kings Forest Recreation Center is a small facility serving about 50 children aged 6-14 this summer.
It was recently an unused building, and has been revitalized. The children at King’s Forest, 8008 E Chelsea St., take part in sports, educational programs, are surrounded by positive role models, and receive lunch and snacks – all for free. For many of the children, other summer programs were out of reach, because of distance or cost. The program and facility upgrade are the work of As a result of community input, the Hillsborough County Commission, the Children’s Board, and Safe & Sound Hillsborough.
