HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa man died Tuesday (Sept. 13) from injuries he received in a crash on I-4, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Timothy J. Lovejoy, 32, of Tampa, died at Tampa General Hospital where he was taken after the crash. There were no other injuries.

The crash happened about 2:13 p.m. when Mr.Lovejoy lost control of his 2006 Saturn while driving east on I-4 at a high rate of speed, troopers said. The Saturn traveled onto the grass median, then returned to the eastbound lanes where it collided with a 2014 Ford driven by Travis C. Jenkins, 30, of Plant City. The impact caused the Saturn to spin and hit a 2016 Volvo semi tractor-trailer that was hauling cardboard.
