Pedestrian Dies in Hillsborough Crash

The pedestrian failed to yield right of way to an oncoming vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Riverview man died Saturday (May 21) night when he walked into the path of an oncoming vehicle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

James D. Hatcher, Jr., 49, of Riverview, died at the scene, FHP troopers said. The accident happened about 9 p.m. on Fowler Avenue east of Williams Road. Troopers said Mr. Hatcher was crossing Fowler when he stepped into the path of a 2007 Chevrolet Pickup driven by Jordan Colin Bean, 22, of Thonotosassa, and was struck and killed.
