Founded by former slaves, the descendants of Bealsville’s founders are invited to help celebrate its 150th birthday and its proud history.

BEALSVILLE – When the Civil War ended in 1865, 12 former slaves founded the community that became known as Bealsville. This year, the community, which is near Plant City, commemorates  its 150th year with a celebration June 25-28.

The community is seeking descendants of the 12 original settlers and former students and faculty who attended or taught at the historic Glover School. The birthday bash will feature the Bealsville 150 Sesquicentennial Gala  at 6:30 p.m. June 27 at the TECO Expo Hall, Florida Strawberry Fairground.  The title sponsor is
Publix Supermarket Charities.
