Voters have until Nov. 2 to request a mail ballot.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY -The end of the 2016 election season is in sight.

The Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections on Friday (Sept. 23)  sent 5,019 general election ballots to overseas and absent military voters. The office is preparing to send more than 170,000 ballots to domestic voters on Oct. 4. Voters have until Nov. 2 to request that a ballot be mailed to them.

“Vote by mail is becoming an increasingly popular way to vote,” said Craig Latimer, supervisor of elections. “We pay the return postage, and we’re now including our very popular ‘I Voted’ stickers with our vote by mail ballots.”

Vote by mail ballots must be in the elections office by 7 p.m. Nov.8. The U.S. Postal Service recommends that voters mail ballots back at least one week before the deadline. Voters can also drop their ballots off at any of the four Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections offices or 16 early voting sites once they’re open.

The deadline to register to vote for this election is Oct. 11. Early voting in Hillsborough County is Oct. 24 through Nov.6. Election Day is Nov. 8.
