GIBSONTON – Gibsonton Road was shut down for several hours Tuesday (Dec. 22) while Hillsborough sheriff’s deputies investigated a six-vehicle crash in which a deputy was injured.

The deputy, Tim Berg, 37, was hit from behind by a white truck while on his motorcycle. He was dragged for about 150 feet by the truck, which struck other vehicles. Berg was taken to Tampa General Hospital where he was listed in stable condition Tuesday night. Sheriff’s officials said he sustained several cuts and a possible broken ankle.

Details about the accident and how it happened remained sketchy late Tuesday while the investigation continued.
