Four others were seriously injured in the two-car crash Friday.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – An elderly Georgia woman died Friday (July 10) from injuries she sustained in a traffic accident earlier in the day.

The woman, Rebertha A. Chambers, 80, of Stockbridge, GA, was a passenger in one of the vehicles. She died of her injuries at Tampa General Hospital, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Seriously injured in the crash were Jason R. Mouzakes, 27, of Bellport, NY; Nicholas A. Hernandez, 25, of Spring Hill; Keriann N. Chambers, 37, of Stockbridge; and Veronica R. Chambers, 57, also of Stockbridge. All were taken to Tampa General.

The FHP said it happened this way: A 2015 Honda Accord driven by Mouzakes was traveling eastbound on U.S. 92 in Hillsborough County about 2:30 Friday (July 10) afternoon. Kerriann Chambers was driving a 2015 Hyundai Accent westbound. Traffic in the eastbound lane stopped and, when Mouzakes tried to stop, he went into the westbound lane where the Honda and Hyundai collided nearly head-on. Both cars spun. The Honda remained in the roadway. The Hyundai ended up on the side of the road. Mouzakes was ticketed for careless driving, according to FHP officials.
