Driver Dies in Hillsborough Crash

The man was not wearing a seat belt, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A man died early Saturday (July 23) when he rear ended a pickup truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

John R. Haughton, Jr., 50, of Sun City, died at the scene, the FHP said.

The accident happened about 1:45 a.m. on U.S. 41. Mr. Haughton was driving a 2006 Ford Focus north in the center lane south of Hartford Road. FHP troopers said he overtook and rear-ended a 2005 Ford F-250 driven by Micah Steele, 46, of Tampa. Steele was not injured.
