HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY -A Valrico man died Saturday (Aug. 15) of injuries he received when he lost control of the car he was driving.

Dead at the scene was Julius Martinez, 21, of Valrico, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP troopers say that Mr. Martinez was driving a 1991 Honda Civic eastbound on State Road 60 west of Beverly Boulevard in the outside lane about 6:30 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 15). A 2004 Chrysler van driven by Paul Littrell, 31, also of Valrico, was headed westbound on State Road 60 east of Beverly Boulevard in the inside lane. Mr. Martinez lost control of his Honda, which crossed over the median and began spinning couter-clockwise. The Honda traveled into the path of the Chrysler and the two vehicles collided.

It is unclear why Mr. Martinez lost control of his vehicle. Alcohol is not a factor, the FHP says. None of the occupants of the Chrysler were injured, according to FHP reports.
