Florida Highway Patrol troopers say the man refused a breath test.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested a Tampa man early Sunday (Feb. 7) after a wrong-way crash.

Arrested and charged with DUI was Jonathan Henry Garner, 33, of Tampa. He was also ticketed for driving in the wrong direction, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Garner was driving his 2004 Jeep Liberty west in the inside eastbound lane of S.R. 600 (Hillsborough Avenue) east of Orient Road about 3:30 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 7) when he hit a 2010 Nissan Murano driven by Lennox Austin, 55, of Brandon. Garner then hit a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Lascelle Saunders, 52, of Safety Harbor.

Sandra Valles, 46, of Safety Harbor, a passenger in the Silverado, received minor injuries and was treated at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Garner also received minor injuries and was treated at St. Joseph’s before he was taken to the Hillsborough County Jail where, troopers said, he refused a breath test.
