Celebrate Freedom by Adopting a Pet in Hillsborough

Pet Adoption | Homeless Pets | Dogs and Cats

The Pet Resource Center, Hillsborough County’s animal shelter, is having an adoption special to celebrate July 4 – name-your-own-price adoptions.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Hillsborough County’s Pet Resource Center, the county’s animal shelter and the First Place for Pets, invites the community to a special Independence Day edition of the shelter’s monthly First Saturday Celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 4 at the facility, 440 N Falkenburg Road, Tampa.

Celebrate America’s birthday with music, fun, and name-your-own-price adoptions on the agency’s patriotic pets! Look for red, white and blue pet kennels marked “Ready to Go.” Every pet adoption includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, county license tag, and microchip with free chip registration included. To honor our heroes, adoption fees will be waived to all active or retired U.S. military members on July 4-5 (proper ID required).

Volunteers at the Independence Day First Saturday Celebration will also serve up an all-American cookout lunch to benefit medically needy shelter pets. All attendees are welcome to take home a complimentary patriotic pet name tag – while supplies last.

Hillsborough County’s Pet Resource Center is often the first place to receive the community’s lost and surrendered animals, and the shelter hopes to be the first place adopters come to select a new pet. The facility is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily for adoptions, lost pet searches, spay/neuter vouchers, and county pet license tags. The shelter’s holiday weekend hours are as follows for adoptions and lost pet searches: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday (July 4) and 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday (July 5). The facility will be closed Friday (July 3) in observance of the county holiday. For information, see hillsboroughcounty.org.
