More Than 150,000 Ballots Mailed to Hillsborough County Voters

Voters have until 5 p.m. Aug. 24 to request that a primary election vote by mail ballot be sent to them.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Watch your mail if you’re one of the 150,000-plus Hillsborough County voters who likes to vote by mail.

The supervisor of elections mailed primary ballots Tuesday (July 26). For the first time, the envelopes will include the popular “I Voted” stickers so that voters can remind others that it’s important to vote.

“Vote By Mail is the most convenient way to vote. We mail the ballot to you, and in Hillsborough County we even pay the return postage. It doesn’t get easier than that,” said Craig Latimer, supervisor of elections.

And if you haven’t requested a vote by mail ballot, it’s not too late to put in your request. Voters have until 5 p.m. Aug. 24 to request that a primary election vote by mail ballot be sent to them. Ballots will be mailed within two days of receiving the request. Voters can also visit any of the four supervisor of elections offices and have a vote by mail ballot printed while they wait.

After marking their ballot, voters need to make sure they sign the envelope before mailing the ballot back or returning it in person to any of the supervisor of elections offices or early vote sites. Hillsborough County will have 16 early vote sites open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 15 – 28.

Voters should allow at least five days for ballots to reach the office by mail. All vote by mail ballots must be in the supervisor of elections office no later than 7 p.m. Aug. 30 (primary day) to be counted.
