Service improvements to Hernando County’s bus system start Monday (Jan. 4).

HERNANDO COUNTY – Hernando County Transit, also known as TheBus, announces that new service improvements will go into effect starting Monday (Jan. 4). Improvements include service expansion into Pasco County, the new Green Route and reduced wait times.

Hop On Hernando Connects

TheBus riders will be able to travel from Hernando County and connect to Pasco County Public Transportation (PCPT) at the Scheer Commerce Center on Emerald Drive between U.S 19 and Bachmann Avenue. This bus route will serve commuters, shoppers, students, workers and other potential riders traveling the U.S 19 corridor, helping to increase economic opportunity and mitigate traffic congestion in the area. This Hernando Connects service expansion provides a regional transit system connection for Hernando, Pasco, Hillsborough and Pinellas counties (fares for each transit system will apply).

Hop On the Green Route

The new Green Route will serve riders traveling to the Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport and Technology Center, Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind, Nature Coast Technical High School, Chocachatti Elementary School, Bayfront Health Brooksville, Pasco-Hernando State College―Spring Hill Campus and other locations. About 80 bus stops are now available on California Street, Wiscon Road, U.S. 19 and Spring Hill Drive.

Wait times have been reduced from 75 to 60 minutes providing riders with more frequent service.
