Jonathan Huff | Crime | Hernando Sheriff

Hernando sheriff’s deputies say the man is no stranger to law enforcement.

HERNANDO COUNTY -A raid Wednesday (May 25) by deputies netted drugs and cash and resulted in the arrest of a member of the Folk Nation gang, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Arrested was Jonathan Huff, 27, of 11404 Pike Avenue in Spring Hill. Deputies said Huff was charged with two counts of the sale and possession of methamphetamine, five counts of sale of a controlled substance, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, four counts of unlawful use of a two-way device, possession of a structure for sale of a controlled substance, four counts of possession of paraphernalia, three counts of driving with a suspended or revoked license, trafficking in hydromorphone, and possession of a structure to traffic in hydromorphone. If found guilty of only the charge of trafficking in hydromorphone, Huff faces a minimum mandatory prison sentence of seven years and a fine of $100,000, deputies said.

Huff is a self-proclaimed member of the Folk Nation, and was rising to the level of “treasurer” in his gang, deputies said. Huff, who is a convicted felon, is no stranger to interactions with Hernando deputies. In 2013, Huff was charged with possession with intent to distribute oxycodone. He was arrested again in 2014 and charged with trafficking in hydromorphone, according to deputies.

Huff’s latest arrest came about 5:48 p.m. Wednesday (May 25) when detectives responded to Huff’s residence to execute a search warrant. The search warrant was the result of several narcotics purchases conducted by undercover detectives with Huff at his residence, deputies said. When they arrived, deputies said they found Huff in his front yard, trying to sell narcotics.

Huff was in possession of 120 pills of hydromorphone and nearly $700 in cash, according to the sheriff. A search of his bedroom revealed a baggie of methamphetamine, marijuana, scales, and syringes. Deputies said Huff was selling pills and methamphetamine to about 50 customers a day. He was selling an estimated 200 pills daily at a street value of approximately $7,000, deputies said.
