Heads up: Tropical Weather Brewing in the Caribbean

No threats yet to Florida, but the National Hurricane Center is keeping an eye on some disturbed weather.

A low-pressure area in the southwest Caribbean has weather-watchers on the alert, but the late-season development so far poses no threat to Florida and it is uncertain whether it will strengthen.

Nonetheless, it is something to be aware of. The National Hurricane Center in its 1 p.m. bulletin gives the low-pressure area a 20 percent chance of development during the next 48 hours and a 70 percent chance through the next five days.

The area’s movement has been erratic and weather models show no definitive future direction.

Hurricane season ends officially on Nov. 30.
