The closures are part of a repaving project that includes new bike lanes.

PINELLAS PARK -Motorists can expect nightly lane closures on U.S. 19 N from just north of Gandy Boulevard to 49th Street N in Pinellas Park while a road repaving project is completed.

Preferred Materials, the Florida Department of Transportation’s contractor on the project, says lane closures on the two-mile long project are expected to happen between 8: 30 p.m. and 6 a.m. The work includes a reduction in the width of the median in some locations, re-striping the road so that bike lanes can be added, lengthening the turn lane onto Gandy Boulevard and adding new hurricane resistant traffic signals at 80th Avenue N. Minor sidewalk repairs are also included as part of this repaving project. This $4.8 million project began in May and is expected to finish by late 2016.
