Crash Kills Tampa Motorcyclist
The other driver turned into his path, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa motorcycle driver died Friday (Feb. 9) of injuries he suffered in a traffic crash on U.S. 301, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
John Anthony Cosme-Rivera, 25, of Tampa, died at Tampa General Hospital where he was taken after the crash.
The crash happened about 6:48 p.m. on U.S. 301 south of State Road 60. Troopers said Winifred Stevens, 57, of Gibsonton, was driving a 2017 Ford Escape north on U.S. 301 when she turned left into the driveway of a business. The turn took her into the path of the 2008 Suzuki that Mr. Cosme-Rivera was driving south on U.S. 301.
Troopers said Stevens failed to yield to the oncoming Suzuki. Alcohol was not a factor.
