Children’s Extravaganza Kicks Off Gasparilla Season in Tampa

TAMPA – Gasparilla season begins Saturday (Jan. 23) with a day’s worth of family- and child-friendly events.

The alcohol-free McDonald’s Children’s Gasparilla Extravaganza runs from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. along Bayshore Boulevard. It features the Gasparilla Preschooler’s Stroll, the Gasparilla Air Invasion, the Children’s Gasparilla Parade, and the Gasparilla “Piratechnic” Extravaganza. The events are free to the public although reserved seating is available for the parade at gasparillatreasures.com.

The Gasparilla Pirate Fest has been a Tampa tradition since 1905. More than 300,000 people are expected to line the streets for the Children’s Extravaganza and the Pirate’s Fest on Jan. 30. For information about parking, shuttles, road closures and schedules, go to tampagov.net.
