Bus Service Starts Between St. Pete and Manatee County

Tyrone Square Mall and the Bay Pines Veterans Hospital are among the stops.

ST. PETERSBURG — Bus service between Manatee County and St. Petersburg began on Friday, with two trips per day northbound and southbound.

Included are stops near Eckerd College, Central Plaza, Tyrone Square Mall and the C.W. Bill Young Veterans Hospital at Bay Pines. The fare is $5 one way, $10 round trip..

The new route, which will operate Monday through Friday, is called the Skyway ConneXion. It is the first time, at least in recent memory, that passengers can ride a bus between Manatee and Pinellas counties. For schedules, fares and other info, visit http://www.ridemcat.org/bus-routes/

The pilot-program route will be evaluated after several months to analyze ridership and determine if it will be continued.
