A public Q&A session with city officials is coming June 7.

ST. PETERSBURG —  Start crunching your numbers.

Citizens are being encouraged to participate in the development of the fiscal year 2017 city budget, sharing thoughts and priorities during an interactive open house June 7, a Tuesday, at the Coliseum, 535 Fourth Ave. N. The 6 p.m. open house will provide an opportunity for you to have one-on-one contact with administrators, Mayor Rick Kriseman and City Council members as the budget is developed.

From 6 to 7 p.m., you can ask questions and share ideas with administrators and city staff during break-out sessions hosted by senior staff from City Development, Public Safety, Neighborhood Affairs, Public Works, General Government, and Leisure Services. Kriseman and Budget Director Tom Greene will present an overview of the budget development process before opening the floor to public comment; citizens wishing to speak will be limited to three minutes. Following citizen input, City Council members will have an opportunity to share their priorities.

“I am proud of what we have accomplished in the Sunshine City. The City budget for Fiscal Year 2017 will build on those successes, as well as our vision and values. Citizens have a stake in how the city allocates and spends taxpayer dollars. I encourage everyone to use this opportunity to meet with and share your ideas with Council Members and city staff as we develop our next budget,” Kriseman said.

City Hall also is encouraging citizens to leave budget-related feedback on the city’s online platform, www.stpeteinnovision.com, from June 7 to June 24.  You may also comment during the open forum segment of regularly scheduled City Council meetings, as well as during two budget public hearings Sept. ember 8 and Sept. 22.

The budget open house will be rebroadcast on StPeteTV, Bright House Channel 641, WOW! Channel 15 and Verizon Fi0s Channel 20 throughout the summer. To learn more about the FY17 budget and view the city’s budget timeline, visit www.stpete.org/budget.
