Big World Affairs Conference Coming to St. Petersburg

The locally driven event’s purpose is to produce a high-quality forum about foreign affairs issues that affect residents’ lives.

ST. PETERSBURG — The St. Petersburg Conference on World Affairs comes to town next week for a three-day discussion about critical world issues. The agenda includes health insurance, ISIS, American jobs, GLBT people, Syrian refugees, possible international ties for St. Petersburg and a dozen other topics.

The University of South Florida St. Petersburg is host to the Feb. 17-19 conference. Experts in various international fields will take part in panel discussions at the free event, which is open to the public. Each day’s sessions will be held in the USFSP Student Center, 200 Sixth Ave. S. Seating is first-come, first-served. In previous years, several hundred people have attended.

Complimentary parking is available at the campus parking garage.

Daily sessions are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Several lunch options are on or near the campus.

Several prominent local organizations are among the sponsors. In addition to USFSP, they include the WUSF Media Group,  the Tampa Bay Times, Smith & Associates Real Estate, Sarasota Institute of Lifetime Learning, The Sembler Group,World Politics Review and ONE St. Petersburg.
