Bicyclist Killed in Pasco Crash

The bicyclist was from Port Richey.

PASCO COUNTY – A bicyclist died New Year’s Day as the result of injuries sustained in a traffic crash in Pasco County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Michelle Jane Finnegan, 50, of Port Richey died at Bayonet Point Hospital. She was not wearing a helmet, FHP troopers said.

The crash happened about 813 p.m. Friday (Jan. 1) at U.S. 19 and Scenic Drive. Troopers said a 2012 BMW 135I driven by R. Carl Menkens, 80, of Largo, was southbound on U.S. 19 approaching the intersection of Scenic Drive. Ms. Finnegan was riding her bicycle west bound on U.S. 19 at the intersection. The BMW collided with the bike. Ms. Finnegan was taken to the hospital where she died of her injuries. Charges are pending, FHP officials say.
