Belcher Road Paving Scheduled to Begin This Week
One lane along Belcher in Clearwater is expected to be closed for the construction.
CLEARWATER – Contractors for Pinellas County plan to begin a paving project this week (week of Feb. 1) to resurface North Belcher Road from Drew Street to Palmetto Street in Clearwater.
The project is scheduled to last about two weeks and will require closing a single lane of traffic on Belcher Road as the work progresses with possible temporary lane closures at major intersections.
Traffic signals and flaggers will be on site to guide traffic around the closed lanes. Crews are scheduled to work from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily.
Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC, will be completing the paving project, which includes milling and resurfacing this section of Belcher Road.
The project is part of Pinellas County’s Pavement Preservation program, which protects roadway base materials and minimizes pavement distresses, such as rutting and potholes. Resurfacing extends the life of the pavement at a much lower cost than fully reconstructing the roadway at a later date. For information on the program, go to pinellascounty.org.
