Applications Are Available for Social Services Grants

A required workshop for new applicants is this Friday (June 3).

ST. PETERSBURG — Social service agencies may now apply for $333,500 in competitive grants from the city of St. Petersburg. Grant applications are due Tuesday, July 5 by 4 p.m. and are available online at www.stpete.org/social_action_funding.

A Bidders/Technical Assistance Workshop will be held on Friday (June 3), 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Room 100 at St. Petersburg City Hall, 175 Fifth St. N. Attendance at this workshop is required by all new applicants to the Social Action Funding Program to qualify for funding. Agencies currently funded (FY 2016) by the city’s Social Action Funding Program are not required to attend, but are welcome and encouraged to attend . Interested applicants are requested to print the application and guidelines found on the website and bring to the workshop

Funding is limited to social service programs that provide homeless services and/or homeless prevention services. Priority for funding: homeless families with minor or dependent children (highest priority), unaccompanied youth (second priority) and chronic homeless adults (third priority).

Grant awards will not be offered to agencies requesting less than $10,000 or more than $40,000. An agency can request funding for more than one program, but the total request cannot exceed $40,000. Agencies must submit only one application.

Parking for June 3 workshop attendees:  A limited number of free metered parking spaces are available in Parking Lot No. 4 on the north side of City Hall.  To qualify for free parking you must park in Lot 4 in a metered parking spot. Free parking is also available in the City of St. Petersburg Municipal Services Building Parking Garage. The entrance to this garage is on Third Street N., just north of Central Avenue. Please bring your parking voucher to the meeting for validation. If you park in any other location please ensure you have parked legally or you may be subject to a parking violation.
