5K Footrace Set Saturday for Downtown St. Petersburg

And on Jan. 17, the Clearwater Distance Classic will offer five events from a 50K ultra to a 5K walkathon. 

ST. PETERSBURG — The Kettle Krush, a 5K road race to benefit the Salvation Army, is Saturday (Jan. 9) starting at 9 a.m. A one-mile fun run starts at 10. The race, which starts and ends at Albert Whitted Park, will benefit the Salvation Army. The park is across the street from the Dali Museum, which is at Dali Boulevard (Fifth Avenue SE) and Bayshore Drive.

Register online at www.active.com or at http://www.salvationarmyflorida.org/stpetersburg/events/ . Race day registration starts at 7:30 a.m. Cost is $40 for the 5K, $30 for the mile. Advance registrants may pick up their race packets  at the St. Petersburg Running Company, 6986 22nd Ave. N, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday (Jan. 7) or from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday (Jan. 8).

The race will be timed with chips by Big Dawg Racing.

The following weekend, the Clearwater Distance Classic offers a 50K ultramarathon, a marathon, a half-marathon, a 5-miler and a 5K Walkathon. For information, visit http://www.clearwaterdistanceclassic.com/ .
