It’s Time to Talk Budget in St. Pete

St. Petersburg officials have scheduled a session to get comments and ideas for the city’s budget.

ST. PETERSBURG -City officials have scheduled an open house to give residents a chance to learn more about the 2017-18 budget.

The budget open house is scheduled for 6 p.m.Monday (June 19) at the Coliseum, 535 Fourth Ave. N. St. Petersburg residents will have a chance to ask questions and share ideas with Mayor Rick Kriseman, City Council members, and administrators. City staff from City Development, Public Safety, Neighborhood Affairs, Public Works, General Government, and Leisure Services departments will also be available to speak with citizens during the first hour. Following the breakout session, Budget Director Tom Greene will give a brief overview of how the city budget is developed before residents have an opportunity to comment and City Council members share their budget priorities.

Citizens are invited to participate by taking a brief, one-question survey through  June 30 at stpete.org. The budget open house will be rebroadcast throughout the summer on StPeteTV, Bright House Channel 641, WOW! Channel 15, and Verizon Fi0s Channel 20. St. Petersburg’s current operating (general fund) budget is about $248 million. The new budget will go into effect Oct. 1.
