St. Pete Opens New Police Headquarters

The grand opening of the St. Petersburg Police Department’s new building is scheduled for this morning.

ST. PETERSBURG – City officials are celebrating the completion of the new St. Petersburg Police Department headquarters with a grand opening ceremony this morning (March 22).

The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the department, 1301 First Ave. N. The building will be open to the public from noon to 4 p.m. Overflow parking will be available at Tropicana Field, Lot 6.

The new building is a three-story, 170,000-square-foot costing about $79 million. Construction began in May 2017. The building has been built to withstand Category 5 hurricane strength winds and ballistic impact.

The St. Petersburg Police Department is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies. It was reaccredited for the 10th time last July and presented with CALEA’s award of Advance Accreditation and Accreditation with Excellence. The department has been named a “meritorious” agency because it has kept the accreditation for more than 30 years.

Our Department is also one of 164 Florida law enforcement agencies accredited by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation.

The St. Petersburg Police Department has 562 sworn officers and 212 civilians.
