Pinellas County Wants to ‘Talk Trash’

Trash | Waste Management | Solid Waste

Pinellas officials are seeking comment about potential new countywide waste, recycling and reduction programs, as well as evaluate opportunities to create more renewable energy from waste.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Pinellas County Solid Waste is inviting residents, businesses and business partners to attend a master plan workshop.

The aim of the workshop is to review existing solid waste programs, and provide feedback about potential new countywide waste, recycling and reduction programs, as well as evaluate opportunities to create more renewable energy from waste.

“The next 30 years is a very important time frame in the lifespan of our landfill. Continuing, creating and sustaining the right programs is at the core of developing an effective master plan that meets current needs and anticipates future needs of residents, visitors and businesses,” Pinellas County Administrator Barry Burton said. “The choices we make now will shape our environment and economy far into the future. A collaborative approach is imperative in making these decisions.”

Participants are encouraged to attend a workshop location convenient to them. These workshop dates will provide the same information at each location:

• Today (April 30)  from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

12520 Ulmerton Road

• Thursday (May 2) from 6 p.m.  – 8 p.m.
