Pinellas Commission Extends State of Emergency

Hurricane Irma | Weather | Tropical Storm

The decision came this morning during a special commission meeting.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Pinellas County commissioners voted today (Sept. 14) to extend the local state of emergency for an additional seven days.

Commissioners had declared a seven-day local state of emergency Sept. 7 as Hurricane Irma was bearing down on Florida. The commission held a special public meeting this morning to extend the declaration.

The county’s emergency operations center remains activated to coordinate countywide response and recovery activities following Hurricane Irma. Most county government offices and facilities reopened this morning. Parks, preserves and Heritage Village will reopen Saturday (Sept. 16).
