Meet the Finalists for Pinellas County Administrator

Pinellas County Administrator | Finalists | Government

Four people who want to be the next Pinellas County administrator will undergo interviews and meet the public and local officials over the next two days.

PINELLAS COUNTY – After a nationwide search, the field of applicants for the job of Pinellas County administrator has been whittled down to four.

At least one of the four is a familiar face to many in Pinellas County – Jill Silverboard, who is Clearwater’s deputy city manager. She’s also the only woman in the field. The others are Barry Burton, the county administrator of Lake County, IL; Roberto Hernandez, the city manager of Savannah, GA; and Steve Howard, the county administrator of Camden County, GA. The next Pinellas County administrator will replace Mark Woodard, who is retiring later this year after 30 years with the county. Woodard was appointed county administrator on Aug. 5, 2014. He has worked in the field of government and financial management since 1981, joining Pinellas County as a senior financial management analyst in June 1988. Woodard has served as director of the office of management and budget, was promoted to an assistant county administrator and later to chief of staff. He was named the interim county administrator and after four months in the position, his appointment was made permanent.

Over the next two days, those four will be put through interviews with county commissioners, a tour of Pinellas County, and a meet and greet marathon that includes a reception with county administrators; lunch with mayors, the county’s constitutional officers, city managers and leaders of civic and business groups; as well as a citizen and community forum. The citizen and community forum is scheduled for 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday (Aug. 13) at the Hilton St. Petersburg Carillon Park, Salons A and B, 950 Lake Carillon Drive, St. Petersburg. Water, tea, coffee and cookies will be available. The general public is invited.
