BROOKSVILLE – Hernando County commissioners have awarded a contract to Midcoast Construction Enterprises to complete the reconstruction of the Bayport Pier.
The contract to Midcoast which is based in Largo, is in the amount of $657,060.50.
The reconstruction of the pier will begin after an archaeological assessment is completed in coordination with the Division of Historical Resources to comply with permitting requirements. A previously recorded shipwreck is located within the vicinity of the pier and two additional overlapping archaeological sites are also recorded in the project area.
