Help Clean Up Pasco

Keep Pasco Beautiful is seeking volunteers for a countywide cleanup.

PASCO COUNTY – Take pride in your community and join Keep Pasco Beautiful for the Great American Cleanup.

The national event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon March 2. Volunteers are needed throughout Pasco County to pick up litter and debris along roadways, waterways and public spaces.

“We’ve added a coastal focus this year, targeting fishing line recovery,” said Keep Pasco Beautiful Coordinator Kristen King. “Monofilament and other fishing line can remain in the environment for hundreds of years, posing a deadly risk for wildlife.”

Pasco County has been part of the Great American Cleanup since 1992. In 2018 alone, 625 volunteers picked up 28 tons of trash throughout Pasco.

Organizers say this is a great opportunity for high school students to earn community service hours. Participants can join one of the existing teams located throughout Pasco County, or create their own group to focus on a specific area.

The Great American Cleanup is one of two Pasco cleanup events held annually and is a collaboration between Keep Pasco Beautiful and Pasco County Government.  The mission of Keep Pasco Beautiful is to improve Pasco County by engaging the community in sustainable efforts to reduce litter, promote waste reduction and encourage beautification.
