The award goes to teachers who inspire their students to perform at high levels.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Laura Domanski, a St. Petersburg High chemistry teacher in the International Baccalaureate program, was named the recipient of the 2016 Yale Educator Award.

Sponsored by the Yale Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the award recognizes teachers and counselors from around the world who inspire and support their students to perform at high levels and to achieve excellence. Tarek Ziad, a former St. Petersburg High student and the member of the Yale Class of 2020, nominated Domanski, who will receive a letter and an engraved desk set from Yale.

Admission office officials at Yale said that they credit the excellent quality of this year’s freshman class to teachers and counselors like Domanski who have been shaping our students long before they arrive at Yale.
