Pinellas’ graduation rate has increased 13.1 percent since the 2010-11 school year, according to state records.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Pinellas’ high school graduation rate increased for the 2014-15 school year, according to the Florida Department of Education. The school district’s graduation rate climbed to 78.3 percent, a 2.1 percent increase over the previous year and a 13.1 percent increase since 2010-11.

“Pinellas County Schools is thrilled to see an aggressive increase in our graduation rate for all students. Within the last five years, Pinellas County Schools has steadily increased its graduation rate to become one of the state’s top-performing large school districts,” schools Superintendent Michael A. Grego said.

The increase reflects Pinellas County Schools continued commitment to ensure that all students are prepared for success after high school, district officials said.

Pinellas County’s 13.1 percent increase is one of the most significant in the state when comparing graduation rates from 2010-11 to 2014-15.
Additional 2014-15 highlights include:

• The school district outperformed the state graduation rate of 77.8 percent.
• Pinellas County Schools has the second highest graduation rate among school districts in the Tampa Bay area.
• Pinellas County’s black and Hispanic student graduation rates each saw a nearly 4 percent increase.
• Every sub-group of students increased their graduation rates from the 2013-14 school year.
