More than 200 students from Pinellas County high schools, adult education schools and Pinellas Technical Colleges celebrated their commencement at countywide graduation this month.

PINELLAS COUNTY – About 1,500 family members, friends and faculty as 204 adult education graduates dressed in caps and gowns accepted their diploma, embarking on a promising new journey.

The students students from district high schools, six adult education schools and two Pinellas Technical Colleges gathered at the Pasadene Community Church on Sept. 15 to celebrate their commencement at a countywide graduation ceremony.

“Tonight we celebrate all of you and your accomplishments,” said Mark Hunt, executive director of career, technical and adult education for Pinellas County Schools.

The evening’s commencement speaker was St. Petersburg Deputy Mayor Dr. Kanika Tomalin, who said.“As look into the sea of faces, I know that you have climbed a mountain and are now able to see the avalanche of your accomplishments.”

Tomalin quoted an inspirational poem by British Nobel laureate, Joseph Rudyard Kipling, and encouraged the graduates to, “Dream, set your sights big, then do everything you can to achieve those stirrings in your soul.  But don’t ever get drowned by your dreams. Remember there are always many paths to a single destination.”
