Lakewood High Students Win State Spanish Conference

Not only did Lakewood High take home the top team prize, every student received a superior, outstanding or perfect score on their individual events.

ST. PETERSBURG -Lakewood High School was awarded first place among Division Two through Six schools at the March 8-11 Florida State Spanish Conference.

Sixteen Lakewood High students competed in the Orlando contest, an academic competition that tested their Spanish speaking skills during a series of challenges, including a play, impromptu speaking contest and declamations.

Not only did Lakewood High take home the top team prize, every student received a superior, outstanding or perfect score on their individual events. In total, the students were awarded a perfect score on the play, plus 17 outstanding and five superior trophies.

In addition to the students who competed, Lakewood took 26 student volunteers to the competition to time events, man competition rooms and distribute trophies.
