Today’s event will give parents and students a chance to learn about choice options in the Hillsborough County public schools.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Students and families can learn more about the opportunities available in Hillsborough County Public Schools at today’s (Nov. 2) Choice Expo.

The Expo is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Florida Center at the Florida State Fairgrounds.

More than 50 tuition-free school options will be represented with interactive displays and demonstrations. This free event gives elementary, middle and high school families in kindergarten through 11th grade a chance to interact with teachers, administrators and current students from various schools.

The district’s choice options offer students rigorous academic work while providing opportunities to explore and discover their talents and interests. Some programs include interests like film production and design, finance, medical and science exploration, and performing arts.

Parking and admission is free. Food trucks will be on site for families to purchase snacks, meals and drinks, while several elementary, middle and high school magnet performing arts students will provide entertainment throughout the evening.

With choice, families can apply for a magnet school, specific career and technical programs, choice attractors and other attendance area schools with available space.

The choice application period opened at noon Oct. 26 and extends until Dec. 31. Choice applications are available online at the district’s website bit.ly/ChoiceOptions. For information, contact the Choice Helpline at (813) 272-4692.
