Clearwater Cop Named School Resource Officer of the Year

Officer Lenshawn Price has spent nine years as the SRO at Oak Grove Middle School.

CLEAEWATER – For the second consecutive year, a Clearwater Police Department officer has been named the School Resource Officer of the Year for the Pinellas County School District.

Officer Lenshawn Price was surprised at her school, Oak Grove Middle, on Monday (April 17) morning by Dan Slaughter, Clearwater’s police chief, and Rick Stelljes, chief of the Pinellas County Schools Police Department. The two, along with Principal Dawn Coffin, congratulated Price on the award.

Price has worked for the Clearwater Police Department for nearly 17 years, the last nine of which have been spent at Oak Grove, 1370 S Belcher Road, as the school resource officer. She will be presented with the award at a school board meeting on May 9.

Officer Cathi Long, the SRO at Countryside High School, won the award in 2016.
