Tampa Police Identify Man Found in Hillsborough River

There are no signs of foul play, but the case remains under investigation, Tampa police said.

TAMPA – The Tampa Police Department has identified a man whose body was found Tuesday (Aug. 1) in the Hillsborough River as Elijah Freeman.

Mr. Freeman, 59, was a Tampa resident who was last heard from Monday (July 31) when he spoke with a friend. He was found in the Hillsborough River on Tuesday (Aug. 1), floating  near the W Columbus Drive bridge.

The Tampa police dive team recovered his body near the North Boulevard bridge.

Police said the case remains under investigation, though there appear to be no signs of foul play.
