She failed to put the vehicle in park, New Port Richey police say.

NEW PORT RICHEY – The death of a woman who was run over by her own minivan was accidental, the New Port Richey Police Department said.

Georgann Klecan, 70, died at North Bay Hospital where she was taken after she was run over.

Police said they were called to an address on Pennsylvania Avenue about 11:24 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 29) for a call from Ms. Klecan, who said she was having a hard time breathing. Ms. Klecan told Pasco dispatch that she had been hit by her own car door.

Officers said that, after talking with medical personnel and the good Samaritans who helped Ms. Klecan, they determined that she had failed to place her 2013 Dodge Caravan in park. The minivan began rolling backwards out of her driveway and down the road.

Ms. Klecan was knocked to the ground by her minivan door and subsequently run over by the unoccupied vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing but does not appear to be criminal or suspicious in nature.
