Funeral Set for Robert Henry DiNicola, Former Indian Rocks Beach Mayor

A visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today (Dec. 8) at Serenity Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Monday (Dec. 9) at St. Jerome Catholic Church.

INDIAN ROCKS BEACH – Robert Henry DiNicola, 86, a former mayor of Indian Rocks Beach, died November 29, 2019.

His passing was announced in a press release from Indian Rocks Beach City Manager Greg Mims.

“Mr. DiNicola was a true public servant and had a sincere love for the city of Indian Rocks Beach, his home for 26 years,” Mims wrote in the announcement. “We are a better city because of his dedicated service.

“Bob was instrumental in acquiring the property where the IRB Nature Preserve is situated. He also led the effort to bring the beach trolley to the beaches.”

Indian Rocks Beach Mayor Joanne “Cookie” Kennedy said, “He served on numerous IRB boards and committees. Bob was my friend and mentor. He touched many lives in our city and he will be missed.”

He is survived by his wife Renie; his children, Robert (Tami) DiNicola, Jr., and Susan Nolan; his grandchildren, Joseph Wareham, Jennifer Nolan and Farrah Nolan; his step-grandchildren Alex, Anthony and Adam Sloane; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A visitation is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today (Dec. 8) at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo. A funeral mass is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday (Dec. 9) at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 10895 Hamlin Blvd., Largo.
