A gathering is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Brewer & Sons Funeral Homes – Seven Hills Chapel in Spring Hill.

SPRING HILL – Former Hernando County Commissioner Rose Rocco, 78, died Thursday, November 7, 2019.

The announcement came from the Hernando County government:

“Commissioner Rocco proudly served on the Board of County Commission to the citizens of Hernando County from Nov. 21, 2006 through Nov. 15, 2010. She served as vice chairman of the BOCC, chairman of the Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board, treasurer of the Withlacoochee Regional Water Supply Authority, president of Friends of Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, and founder of Operation P.R.I.D.E., Inc., a countywide cleanup and recycling program.

“Commissioner Rocco was well-known for her civic and community involvement, as well as her compassion for those who needed her assistance.”

A gathering is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 12) at Brewer & Sons Funeral Homes – Seven Hills Chapel, 280 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill. A Celebration of Life will be held afterwards at 6p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Commissioner Rocco’s memory to HPH Hospice, 12260 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, Florida 34613.
