Chuck Williams, Former Pinellas Park Council Member, Dies, 78

Mr. Williams was an advocate for police and firefighters and even became an emergency medical technician.

CHARLOTTE, NC – Charles Joseph “Chuck” Williams, age 78, of Charlotte, NC, died on Thursday, May 9, 2019.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Henry J. and Irene McCauley Williams.

Mr. Williams, known to all as “Chuck,” served his country in the U.Ss Army. He had several occupations in his lifetime from working in the steel mills at a younger age and becoming a certified emergency medical technician working at Busch Gardens, (which was his favorite job ever.) Retiring several times over the years, his main career was with the Department of Defense Contract Audit Agency.

Mr. Williams served as a council member for the city of Pinellas Park during which time he became great friends with the police and firefighters. To serve the city residents and aid the medics when an extra set of hands were needed Mr. Williams went to school and became an EMT and he joined the brotherhood he so respected.

After accepting a position with the Shaw Company, he and his wife, Cynthia, moved to Charlotte. He worked with Shaw for several years before retiring once again. Of course that did not last long. His current job was with Audrey Jones CPA Firm auditing government contracts.

Mr. Williams loved his kids and his pets. He volunteered at CMPD Animal Care and Control. Mr. Williams also enjoyed a good game of golf.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cynthia Ann Johannesen Williams; sons; Christopher B. Williams of Holiday; Michael Thorton (Denise) of Houston, TX; daughters, Deborah Bien (David) of Nashville, TN; Kristen Thorton, (Ning Zhao) of Charlotte; and Rebekah A. Williams (Burlington); thirteen grandchildren Alex, Jacob, Aaron, Skye, Evander, Asa, Katherine, Michaela, Arcadia, Matthew, Faith, James and Audrey; and two great grandchildren, Amara and Atticus.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m.on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m.in the Chapel.
