Wrong-Way Driver Arrested, FHP Says

PASCO COUNTY – A Brooksville man was arrested Tuesday (June 19) night after a witness reported he had been driving the wrong-way on Blanton Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Desmond A. Higgins, 34, of Brooksville, was charged with one count each of misdemeanor DUI and felony violation of probation or community control.

Troopers said a witness called them about 9:23 p.m. to say a wrong-way driver was traveling east on Blanton Road in Dade City.

Troopers were dispatched to intercept the driver and did so at the U.S. 98 bypass and Church Avenue. Higgins, the driver, stopped at a Chevron gas station where he was arrested. Troopers said he provided a breath sample of 0.206.
