Woman Shot, Killed in Zephyrhills

The man who shot her said he acted in self defense, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said.

ZEPHYRHILLS – A woman was shot and killed early this morning (April 5) in Zephyrhills, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

Brandy Contreras, 37, of Dade City, died at a local hospital where she was taken after the shooting.

Deputies were called to 39829 Otis Allen Road about 2:18 a.m. because a man had shot someone who had died. Details are unclear and subject to change because the investigation is in its early stages, but it appears that Ms. Contreras arrived at Otis Allen Road with other people and threatened the resident with a gun. The resident has told deputies he shot in self defense.
