Deputies said drugs were left within the child’s reach.

PINELLAS COUNTY – A woman was charged with child neglect Tuesday (May 2) after she was found passed out in a car with drugs in reach of a three-year-old child, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Tiffany Brown, 38, of Clearwater, was charged with one count of child neglect and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Deputies said the child was in good medical condition and was released to a family member.

Deputies were called to a strip shopping center at 35080 U.S. 19 N in Palm Harbor about 12:14 p.m. Deputies said that, when they arrived, they found Brown unresponsive in the back seat of her vehicle with a 3-year-old child partially belted in the front seat. Deputies said the door on the child’s side of the vehicle was open and the child was screaming. Paramedics had trouble waking Brown when they arrived.

During the investigation, deputies said they found found a baggie of pills containing alprazolam and amphetamine/dexotroamphetamine on the front driver’s seat in reach of the child. Brown denied that the prescription drugs were hers but she admitted to deputies that she had taken methadone.
