Wimauma Man Shot

He was standing on the street using a cell phone, Hillsborough sheriff’s deputies said.

WIMAUMA – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting of an 18-year-old man in Wimauma.

The man’s name was not immediately available.

Deputies said the shooting happened about 11 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 30) after he walked out of his house on Aley Street. He was standing near Aley Street and Railroad Street talking on a cell phone when he felt a pain in his upper chest. He was able to return home where his family called for help.

A medical helicopter flew him to Tampa General Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He was listed in critical condition.
